Amadeus wins £3m contract with Delapré Abbey

Amadeus, part of the NEC Group, has secured a five-year catering contract worth £3m with Delapré Abbey Preservation Trust near Northampton.

The deal will see Amadeus run the Conservatory Café and provide catering for events held at the venue

Delapré Abbey is expected to open its doors to the public for the first time in 900 years in February 2017.

Ahead of the official opening, the venue's catering services is set to open from November 2016, offering refreshments for park visitors, as well as afternoon tea and a full menu for lunch and dinner.

The catering functions are part of the wider restoration and development of Delapré Abbey funded by both the Heritage Lottery Fund and Northampton Borough Council.

Rachael Boyd, director of the Delapré Abbey Preservation Trust said: "Amadeus prepared an outstanding response to the tender and have demonstrated a can do attitude throughout the process. We have been impressed with the quality of the catering they deliver in other visitor attractions and the high standards of food and service for conferences, meetings weddings and other events."

She added: "It is important to us that we recruit locally and use local-based suppliers, which is something Amadeus are clearly passionate about. We look forward to working with them."

Chris Reynolds, sales director for Amadeus said: "We will be providing our best-in-class services, tailored just for Delapré, to help the business thrive. We are delighted to have been awarded the contract and look forward to working with Rachel to make the Abbey a must visit attraction in Northamptonshire."

Marc Frankl, food and beverage director at Amadeus said: "It has been great working with the Abbey on the designs of the kitchen and café. We have already engaged with some really special local suppliers. When we do recruit we will be looking for a team from Northampton to fully support the venue and there will be some exciting opportunities."

The NEC Group operates the NEC, the ICC, the Genting Arena and the Barclaycard Arena. It also owns national ticketing agency, the Ticket Factory; hospitality brand Amplify, and caterer Amadeus.
