An accessible business increases your appeal
A £2b market is there for the taking - but still relatively few operators take the time to consider how they might make the small changes that will make a significant difference to those with visual, hearing or mobility issues.
For the past year, we have been detailing the measures that can make businesses more appealing to the growing number of people who require accessible facilities as part of our Ramp it Up campaign.
We are now inviting operators to put into practice this new found knowledge, and take a second look at your facilities for Accessibility Awareness Day on Monday 1 October. We've created a checklist of areas to look at and suggestions for practical activities to ensure you take an educated look at how to increase your appeal. For even more practical advice, visit our website at www.catererandhotelkeeper.com/accessibility.
And do let us know what you and your team get up to. You can post images on TableTalk or email us at catererphotos@rbi.co.uk
Caterer and Hotelkeeper was brought to you from the stunningly-located Bovey Castle on Dartmoor, which played host to the 2012 Acorn Awards. Run in association with our new sponsor ACT Clean, the event, now in its 26th year, welcomed 30 new rising stars into our revered Acorn academy.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank our partners - ACT Clean and Bovey Castle - and our guest speaker Philip Newman-Hall, director/general manager of Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons, for their support in this year's awards, and warmly congratulate our 30 remarkable winners.
