Another Compass exec retires

Peter Aldrich, chief executive of Compass Group's UK & Ireland business and industry division, has announced his retirement from the company.

His replacement is Chris Copner, former managing director of Select Service Partner (SSP) in the UK.

Aldrich's departure follows the merger of Compass Group's UK and Ireland business with its ESS, Middle East and Africa division.

The reshuffle saw UK and Ireland chief executive Don Davenport announce his retirement from the company last month.

Aldrich and Davenport's retirements come as Compass undertakes a wide-ranging restructure and financial review of the whole company, following shaky financial results that saw it issue two profit warnings within seven months.

Davenport's replacement, Peter Harris, said: "Peter has played a key role in the success of the business and has demonstrated a passion for delivering the highest standards of service to his clients."

Aldrich, 49, who won the Food Service of the Year Catey award in July, was also chief executive of Compass executive dining division Restaurant Associates.
