Aspens Services runs cookery workshops for parents

Education caterer Aspens Services has extended its commitment to healthy eating with community cookery workshops.

The caterer worked with its client North Birmingham Academy to give parents of children at the school the opportunity to cook some easy-to-prepare, healthy dishes alongside its professional chefs.

Aspens food and beverage executive Ken Tee and general manager Stuart Vidler led the sessions during which parents made sweet and sour chicken and a tomato and herb sauce suitable for serving with gnocchi or pasta.

Tee (pictured with parents Carol Kirkham and Hyacinth Garrick) explained the motivation behind the workshops: "Events like this enable us to get involved in the wider school community as part of our work in encouraging children and young people to eat healthily and get excited about good food."
