The man stabbed to death after an outdoor concert in Southend, Essex, last weekend was a chef working for contract caterer BaxterStorey](http://www.caterersearch.com/A-Z/CompaniesLanding/224/2345/Page1.htm).
French-born Reynald Duchene, who worked for BaxterStorey at the historic Gray's Inn in London, was attacked while walking back to his car with his fiancée and her children after watching the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in Priory Park.
He was stabbed in the chest when he confronted two youths who were trying to take the family's picnic chairs. A friend of the family gave him mouth to mouth until paramedics arrived, but her efforts were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead shortly after midnight on Sunday. A post-mortem examination revealed he had been killed by a single stab wound to the chest.
Alastair Storey, chief executive at independent contract caterer BaxterStorey, described Duchene as an extremely talented chef who was highly regarded by everyone in the business.
"Everyone at BaxterStorey is devastated by the news, it is an absolute tragedy. He was a true inspiration to his colleagues and a wonderful member of our team who will be terribly missed," he added.
"Our thoughts are with his family and we will do all we can to assist them at this most difficult of times."
The police are appealing for public help in identifying two men aged about 20 and 1.78m (5ft 10in), who were seen confronting the victim.
