BBC MasterChef announces new series date for 2016
BBC MasterChef
The show will see 40 amateur chefs compete in front of judges John Torode and former greengrocer turned restaurateur Gregg Wallace.
The first episode will air on BBC One at 8pm on 23 March, with further episodes that week on 24 and 25 March.
The date for the next series of MasterChef: The Professionals has not yet been revealed, but it has only been a few months since Mark Stinchcombe from Eckington Manor in the Cotswolds was crowned as winner of the most recent series, on Christmas Eve 2015.
Previous winners of the professional contest have included Steven Edwards and Steve Groves, with the competition asking the chefs to cook for judges Monica Galetti and Marcus Wareing, and professional critics such as Jay Rayner.
