Blumenthal, Corbin and Sirieix among those honoured at UWL hospitality awards

Heston Blumenthal (pictured below), Christopher Corbin, Jeremy King, Jane Milton, Thomas Kochs and Fred Sirieix were among those honoured on Friday by the University of West London (UWL).

Caterer and Hotelkeeper group editor Mark Lewis (pictured below, right) was guest of honour at the London School of Hospitality and Tourism 2014 Honorary Award ceremony on 14 March, along with TV chef Lorraine Pascale (pictured above), who is herself is an alumna of the University.

The ceremony honoured exceptional chefs, restaurant owners and general managers, and took place at the Hilton London Heathrow Terminal 5, whose human resources team won their category award at the 2013 Hotel Cateys.

New UWL honorary Doctor of Sciences (DSc) and chef-patron of the Fat Duck in Bray, Heston Blumenthal, called the University's Hospitality and Tourism programme exceptional, and praised it for its teaching practices and the industry opportunities it offered to graduates.

He said: "I am greatly honoured to be recognised by the University of West London. I look forward to continued involvement and support of their efforts in the future."

Professor David Foskett MBE, head of the London School of Hospitality and Tourism (pictured below, left), thanked the honourees for their support of the University and its students.

The awards also recognised some of the university's most promising students, including those studying Airline and Airport Management, Hospitality Management, Business Travel, and Tourism and Event Management.
