Caterermasters wins double contract with global logistics firm

Contract caterer Catermasters has secured a double contract win with DHL Supply Chain, a global contract logistics firm.

Catermasters will operate the catering services for 540 employees at a brand new DHL site in Colnbrook, Slough, which opened in January this year.

The three-year contract, which is expected to turnover £1.7m for the duration, sees Catermasters provide a 24-hour service, 365 days-a-year. The Heathrow Flight Assembly Centre in Colnbrook is where DHL Supply Chain handles all of the in-flight logistics for short haul flights operated by one of the world's leading airlines from London Heathrow airport.

The new business at DHL's Knowsley site in Liverpool is a rolling contract with turnover expected to be £155k a year. Catermasters will deliver a breakfast and lunch service for 52 weeks of the year to the 250 DHL employees at the site. The Knowsley site is the base from which the logistics provider's ‘Tradeteam' workforce delivers alcohol products to catering outlets across the UK.

Richard Moody, Catermasters joint managing director, said: "Winning two contracts with one high-profile client is a perfect way to start 2010 and really puts us on the front foot in what is becoming an increasingly competitive market.

"We're particularly pleased that the DHL procurement department has recognised the value that we will bring to their workplace restaurants in Colnbrook and Knowsley through our commitment to providing the best and most cost-effective catering solutions."

Spencer Conday, general manager at DHL's Flight Assembly Centre, said: "Catermasters was integral in supporting the design, planning and implementation of our catering facility in Colnbrook. Thanks to Catermasters' great communication and ability to overcome any problems, we now have a restaurant serving great food that all of our colleagues can be proud of."
