Chartwells retains £6.4m contract with North East Lincolnshire Council

Compass Group UK & Ireland's education business, Chartwells, has retained its school meals catering contract with North East Lincolnshire Borough Council for another four years in a deal worth £1.6m annually.

The contract will see Chartwells provide a hot, freshly prepared two-course lunch for primary age maintained schools and academies in North East Lincolnshire.

A total of 31 schools throughout the borough have indicated they wish to be part of the arrangement. Provision has been made for any other primary school in the area to access it throughout the lifetime of the framework.

Lisa Bradstock, business director for Chartwells Local Authorities, said: "We're delighted to be continuing our relationship with North East Lincolnshire Council and will be looking to capitalise on the strong understanding that we already have to increase engagement throughout the county.

"We are committed to continuing to develop our service to suit the needs of the schools across North East Lincolnshire."

A spokesman for the council, added: "North East Lincolnshire Council is pleased to announce the arrival of an innovative new hot school meals service that commences at the start of the new term this September with participating primary schools in the borough.

"The framework with the successful provider Chartwells, allows schools to choose between four different school meal service types, all being fully complaint with government School Food Standards, and ensures primary age children in participating schools have access to a nutritious hot meal at lunch time."

Chartwells works with more than 2,300 education units including primary schools, secondary schools, academy schools, independent schools, colleges and universities.
