Chartwells scoops £1m-a-year school contract in Essex

School caterer Chartwells has been awarded a new seven year contract, worth more than £1 million annually, with Chigwell School in Essex.

The award is the latest in a series of successful consecutive competitive tenders by Chartwells to retain the contract which began in 1966. Following the most recent tender Chartwells, which is part of Compass group, will now continue to provide catering to the 730 students and cleaning services for the next seven years.

Tony Byrne, Chartwells business director, said, "We are very proud to be on our way to reaching a 50-year landmark with Chigwell School. Over the years we have responded to the different needs of the school and very much look forward to continuing this partnership in the future."

Coinciding with the new contract, the school will be extending its kitchen area in which Chartwells will install a new servery and new equipment.
