Chefs Tom Kerridge, Cyrus Todiwala and Tony Singh to front new BBC TV programmes

Chefs Tom Kerridge, Cyrus Todiwala and Tony Singh have been revealed as the faces of two new food television series commissioned by the BBC for broadcast this summer.

Kerridge, chef patron of the two-Michelin starred pub Hand & Flowers in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, will star in Tom Kerridge's Proper Pub Food, while Todiwala and Singh are the Incredible Spice Men.

The six 30 minute episodes of Tom Kerridge's Proper Pub Food will see the former Catey winner cook a selection of starters, main courses and desserts inspired by dishes seen on the chalkboards of the UK's best pubs.

These include mussels cooked in ale, treacle-cured roast beef with ultimate Yorkshire puddings, and date and toffee pudding with caramelised banana.

Kerridge will also visit some of his suppliers to offer tips on what to look for to get the best ingredients for specific styles of cooking, such as the best cut of beef for your Sunday roast.

The Incredible Spice Men: Todiwala And Singh will be a five-part series that follows the two chefs on their mission to create a new style of British cuisine that reflects the multicultural nature of the UK.

Todiwala, chef patron at Cafe Spice Namaste in London, and Singh, former chef proprietor of Edinburgh's Oloroso, hope to show that spices and exotic ingredients are not just for special occasions but can be used everyday.

Rather than create complex and unfamiliar recipes, the pair will demonstrate the us of spice to create variations on well-known traditional British dishes.

Alison Kirkham, commissioning editor at the BBC, commented: "Both these programmes will offer fresh ideas and inspire people across Britain to get busy in the kitchen this summer. I am delighted to welcome Tom, Cyrus and Tony to BBC Two, and am sure their passion and infectious characters will delight viewers."
