Chief executive of contract caterer Initial Catering leaves job

Jim Walker has left his job as the chief executive of Rentokil Initial's catering division.

In an internal announcement last week, Walker said the decision had not been easy but the time was right to hand over the reins to someone else after 16 years.

Rentokil did not elaborate on the reasons behind Walker's decision to leave but one city analyst said it was probably part of the wider shake-up happening at the group.

Credit Suisse analyst Karl Green said: "There has been a majority change in the senior executive management team at the company. New chief executive Doug Flynn is trying to unwind the mismanagement and underinvestment that happened for over the best part of a decade."

Peter Taylor, managing director of the Autograph business and industry division, and Simon James, managing director of the education Eden brand, will stay in their jobs.
