Chris Garside to replace Dennis Hogan as Compass MD

Chris Garside (pictured) will replace Dennis Hogan as managing director of contract caterer Compass Group UK & Ireland from 1 October.

Hogan, who took over the role in 2014, is returning to the US to take on the role of chief executive of Foodbuy, replacing Tony Shearer who will be retiring in 2018.

Garside is currently managing director of ESS and Chartwells, Compass's defence and government services, and education arms, respectively.

Hogan will remain with the business until the end of the year. During the transition period Garside will continue to manage ESS, while Richard Taylor, currently chief operating officer of Chartwells, will become managing director of Chartwells.

Garside will report to Dominic Blakemore, who becomes deputy chief executive on the same date to then take on the role of chief executive on the retirement of Richard Cousins next year.

Blakemore said: "Dennis' focus on driving sustainable growth has put the business on a strong footing and I'm delighted that Chris will be leading our UK & Ireland team in the next stage of its journey."
