Compass Group, the world's largest foodservice company, has announced the acquisition of French caterer Elior's business in Holland.

Elior Nederland, which had revenues of €95.5m (£83m) for the 12 months to 30 September 2010, has been bought by Compass Nederland for an undisclosed sum.

The gross assets at that time were €28.3m (£24.6m).

Richard Cousins, Compass Group CEO, said: "The acquisition provides an excellent opportunity for Compass Group to expand its existing presence in this important market".

Elior Nederland is an established foodservices business, based in Amsterdam and operates in the B&I, Education and Healthcare sectors.

The completion of the transaction is conditional on clearance by the Netherlands Competition Authority.
