Compass Group signs up to Local Employment Partnership
Compass Group has become the latest hospitality operator to sign up to the Government's Local Employment Partnership (LEP) scheme.
Under the LEP initiative, employers pledge to give job interviews and work placements to unemployed people specially trained by JobCentre Plus.
Compass, which employs 66,000 staff in the UK and Ireland, said signing up to the initiative would make external recruiting easier, while providing opportunities for unemployed people to get back into the workplace.
"As part of Compass's commitment we have agreed to encourage all units to engage with their local JobCentre on an ongoing basis and, where we can support jobseekers, to provide a mentor to help them manage a smooth return to work," the company said.
InterContinental Hotels Group, JD Wetherspoon,, Marriott, Roast restaurant and Center Parcs have signed similar deals
Last week, as part of Apprenticeship Week, Compass UK and Ireland's managing director Ian El-Mokadem was shadowed by a group of apprentices.
