Compass Group wins £11m Roehampton University deal

Compass Group's education caterer Chartwells has won a £11m total turnover contract to provide services at Roehampton University in London.

Chartwells will provide student catering at four campuses in a deal worth £2.2m in annual turnover, which also includes hospitality for weddings, corporate team building days and summer school.

Compass previously operated the catering at two of the university's sites prior to wining the university wide deal.

Roehampton University already has Fairtrade status and Compass will supply Fairtrade products to all catering outlets and retail them at a price lower than the recommended retail price to encourage uptake amongst students.

The caterer has also vowed to recycle all food waste, cooking oil, glass, paper and card it generates at the campuses.

Tim Cozens, assistant director of facilities at Roehampton University, said: "Roehampton University is a great place to study, work and live, and by working with Chartwells we hope to take full advantage of centralising catering to enhance the experience of students, staff and visitors alike."
