Compass posts 5.7% increase in year-on-year profit
Foodservice firm Compass has posted a 5.7% increase in year-on-year profit before tax, and 4.2% increase in revenue.
The results for the six months ended 31 March 2014 show revenue at £8.7b, operating profit at £634m, and profit before tax at £595m.
Sectors including education, sports and leisure and healthcare had also provided significant wins that had boosted business.
Group chief executive Richard Cousins said that the company was positive about the outlook across the second half of the year, and expected to return over £1b of cash back to shareholders via a special dividend.
He said: "Looking forward… I'm positive about the opportunities for further revenue and margin progression."
