Compass sews up £48m hospital contract

Compass' healthcare division, Medirest, has sewn up a £48m deal to provide facilities management and catering at North Middlesex University Hospital Trust.

The five-year contract will include the refurbishment of retail spaces and the introduction of a new restaurant for patients, staff and visitors.

The Wellspring restaurant will include Medirest's ‘Whole+Sum' food offer, which provides diners with a choice of hot food options which all 500 calories or under, while a self-service salad bar will also be available alongside a pop-up counter offering regularly changing dishes.

Medirest has been working with North Middlesex University Hospital Trust, which serves more than 350,000 people living across North London, for over 15 years. This new deal extends its service delivery to include portering, security, pest control and uniform management.

Compass' managing director of healthcare Steven Cenci said: "We are really excited to be building on our offer at North Middlesex University Hospital Trust by providing a range of soft facilities management services. Through this contract we aim to continue delivering an outstanding service to the client with a wider offer of services and we look forward to strengthening our partnership further."

David Sowoolu, head of soft FM services, at North Middlesex University Hospital Trust added: "We are proud to be teaming up with Medirest who will be delivering soft facilities management services to our hospital in addition to the retail offer that has been provided since 2009."
