Compass UK & Ireland appoints Dennis Hogan as new MD

Foodservice firm Compass Group UK & Ireland has appointed Dennis Hogan as managing director, effective 1 January 2014.

Joining from Compass Group North America, Hogan will take over from Ian Sarson, who is moving to Compass Group Europe & Japan as director of healthcare and senior living.

With more than 17 years' experience in the group, Hogan has had many operational and finance roles, including senior vice president of finance and chief executive officer of Canteen Vending Services.

Andrew Martin, Compass Group chief operating officer, Europe & Japan, said: "I'd like to thank Ian [Sarson] for the fantastic contribution he's made to our business in the UK & Ireland over the last three and a half years.

"He leaves it in great shape and I'm delighted that Dennis [Hogan] will be joining to lead it through the next exciting stage of its development."

Part of Compass Group PLC, Compass Group UK & Ireland is a major caterer, seeing over £1.9b of revenue to September 2012.

With a wide range of company departments and "arms", including oil rigs, museums and schools, Compass's most recent movements have included partnering with Marks & Spencer to sign a franchise agreement for Simply Food; launching an offshore "wellbeing" scheme for workers on offshore oils rigs; and teaming up with the University of Sussex to operate its cafés and restaurants.
