Compass wins £7m catering deal with Sky TV

Caterer can exclusively reveal that Compass Group has secured £7m of new business as Sky makes the move from in-house to contract catering services at its restaurants in West London and Scotland.

The three-year deal announced to Sky staff last month will see Compass take over the catering reins at Sky sites in Osterley, Fife and West Lothian.

An industry expert estimates the contract is worth more than £2m annually.

A Sky spokesman told Caterer: "After a detailed process which has involved our catering managers and members of our employee forum, we have decided to partner with Compass. This will improve and further develop our existing services."

Sky employs more than 16,000 people nationwide, with 6,000 in Scotland. The contract will see the existing catering staff continue to deliver services, although they will become employees of Compass.

It is proposed the changeover takes place on 1 November 2009.
