Crown Group-owned Kudos launches two new cafés at MediaCityUK, Salford
Foodservice company Kudos has launched two new café areas at MediaCityUK, the new media premises near Salford, Manchester.
One café is exclusively for use by TV and film professionals while the other site is open to the public.
The first stand-alone retail café for the Crown Group-owned firm, the 48-cover Feed serves snacks and hot and cold drinks five days a week, occasionally opening at weekends when needed to support events.
In contrast, the Lounge has 32 covers and is for use by employees of BBC production company Dock 10, which produces shows like Jeremy Kyle, The Voice and A Question of Sport. Open five days a week from 8am to 4pm, and at weekends for special filming, it serves similar food to Feed with the addition of "hot pots".
Having recruited staff from the local area, Kudos has said it is happy with trading progress so far, with both sites set to hit their turnover targets of £200,000 for Feed and £250,000 for The Lounge.
Managing director for Kudos, Jon Pryce, said: "This is an exciting time to be launching both retail outlets at MediaCityUK. The whole area has taken off, with new production companies taking up residency for long-term filming projects. There is a genuine buzz about the place."
It has been a good few months for Kudos, who in recent weeks has announced new catering deals at Methodist Central Hall Westminster, the Cambridge Guildhall and Corn Exchange, and the launch of a new "Haute Dog" van in Harrogate, among other successes.
It announced its £3m deal with MediaCityUK back in April, with the agreement set to last at least five years.
