Deadline extended for the Shine Awards

Organisers of the Shine Awards that raise the profiles of women in travel, tourism and hospitality have announced an extension to the submission deadline.

The new closing date for entries is 8 January after the original deadline clashed with an extended bank holiday.

Alessandro Alonso, a spokesperson for the awards (which are sponsored by industry training body People 1st) said: "We are always keen to receive as many nominations as possible and are happy to enable more entries this way."

The panel of judges has now been confirmed. New judges this year include former Shine Awards' winner Avril Oughton, owner of the Cloud hotel in Brockenhurst; Chris Lee, relationship director for travel at Barclays; and Leigh Jagger, chief executive officer at event management and corporate travel company Banks Sadler.

Judging will take place on 12 January with the winners being announced at a central ceremony on 21 January.

Nominations are online. To nominate yourself or a woman you know visit www.shineawards.com
