Deadline for Women 1st Shine Awards 2013 extended

The deadline for this year's Women 1st Shine Awards, has been extended to 8 April.

The awards, which are now in their eighth year, are the only UK awards for female talent in travel, transport, tourism and the hospitality industry.

The Shine Awards also commend those businesses and individuals that are leading the way in supporting female development and retention.

Jill Stein, director of the Seafood Restaurant in Padstow, Cornwall, and 2012 Shine Awards Lifetime Achievement winner (pictured), said the awards are a great opportunity to celebrate and showcase the achievements of women.

"I would encourage all women working in the hospitality, passenger transport, travel and tourism industries to get involved," she said.

This year's awards include a new category - Stepping Up - which is open to women who are progressing through the ranks of middle management and have shown real commitment to their roles.

The other categories include: Woman of the Year, Lifetime Achievement, Outstanding Entrepreneur, Mentor of the Year (male and female nominees accepted), Rising Star, Small Business and Large Business.

Nominations can be made on the Women 1st website and the winners will be announced at a gala dinner on 19 June at the London Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square following the 2013 Women 1st Conference.
