Dish wins catering contract for London Eye Barracuda
Dish has won a rolling contract to offer event catering services to the London Eye Barracuda, Merlin Entertainments' newest venue.
The deal, the value of which has not been disclosed, will see Dish produce over 100 events per year and create a range of canapé, bowl, lunch and dinner menus exclusive to the venue.
Michael Aldridge, general manager of Merlin Events, said "The new choice of caterer reflects market demand. Dish is known for producing contemporary food at reasonable prices, which is exactly what our clients are asking us for."
Dish director Nick James said "We are delighted to have been awarded the listing and are excited to create new dishes for a variety of events on the stunning river cruiser. With the Christmas season nearing we look forward to putting our contemporary twist on classic dishes."
Rhubarb Food Design, previously sole caterers for the Barracuda, will provide services for Olympic events and continue to provide services across the Merlin Events London venues. Merlin acquired the Barracuda from Woods' Silver Fleet in March 2011.
The London Eye Barracuda boasts an art deco interior featuring intimate booth seat dining and a mirrored 1930s bar with a decorative iron grille facade, tan leather sofas, chaises longues, a dance floor and retractable roof. The cruiser can depart from either London Waterloo Pier or Canary Wharf Pier travelling along the Thames for events, accommodating up to 230 reception-style or 140 seated for dinner and is available for private and corporate events.
