Dorchester general manager and CH&Co chief honoured in UWL awards

The Dorchester general manager Roland Fasel (pictured) and CH&Co chief executive Robyn Jones have been honoured at this year's London School of Hospitality and Tourism awards.

Part of the University of West London (UWL), the School's annual ceremony recognises honourees' outstanding contributions to their respective professions.

Also included on the honours list for this year was restaurateur Iqbal Wahhab; Sally Beck, general manager at the Lancaster London; Sanjay Anand, restaurateur and caterer; Brian Clivaz, chief executive of the Arts Club; and Professor Peter Jones, director and hospitality management specialist at Wentworth Jones Limited.

This year's event took place at the Park Plaza Riverbank London hotel on 13 March.

Awards were also given to students from the school's courses of airline and airport management, hospitality management, culinary arts, event management, and business travel and tourism.

Commenting on his Honorary Doctor of Sciences award, Iqbal Wahhab (right) said: "I have worked with the London School of Hospitality and Tourism for many years; they provide excellent training. Receiving this award is a great honour and I hope to continue my partnership with the school."

Professor David Foskett, dean of the London School of Hospitality and Tourism, said: "These awards are always a highlight in the calendar. The careers of biggest names in the industry were celebrated alongside our best performing students. It was a delight to acknowledge their achievements."

Previous years' honourees have included the executive chef and manager of the Royal Garden Hotel Graham Bamford and Steve Munkley; chef Heston Blumenthal, restaurant general manager Fred Sirieix, and restaurateurs Christopher Corbin and Jeremy King.
