The Maltings, Ely
East Cambridgeshire District Council are seeking expressions of interest for the provision of a hospitality, catering and bars service for The Maltings, a listed building situated in a picturesque location on the banks of the River Great Ouse, Cambridgeshire in the historic City of Ely.
The Maltings was built in 1868 for the Harlock Brewery before passing into Council ownership. It was converted in 1971 into a multi-purpose venue for conferences, seminars, exhibitions, banqueting, cinema and entertainment. Events at the Maltings attract in excess of 55,000 users each year whilst gross turnover for site is in the region of £900,000 per annum.
East Cambridgeshire District Council is seeking to maximise the potential of the venue for all activities and is looking for a catering partner who are able to improve the quality of the venue and may be willing to make significant capital contributions for improvements to the facility. A contract will be let on a minimum of a 10-year term with options to extend based on levels of investment by the contractor.
