Edgbaston Cricket Stadium bowled over by Express Cafes
Express Cafes has won a new three-year contract at Edgbaston Cricket Stadium worth in the region of £1.2m.
The company will deliver mobile catering for all sporting events at the home of Warwickshire County Cricket Club including major matches such as the ICC Champions Trophy final, T20 finals day, one day internationals and the Ashes series in 2015.
Alan Wiggett, managing director of Express Cafes, said there will be a large number of the company's Food Glorious Food branded food trailers at the venue serving food offers such as fish and chips, burgers, hotdogs and carvery items, as well as Costa Coffee.
"Our focus is on good customer service and we empower our staff to use their initiative to manage the queues," he added. "There is nothing more off-putting at an event than a queue stretching for miles just to get a bite to eat."
Hospitality food service and retail on site is managed and operated by Edgbaston Experience Limited, a joint venture set up by Compass Group and Warwickshire County Cricket Club.
Craig Flindall, director of Edgbaston Experience, said: "The quality of food and drink outlets offered by Express Cafes is impressive and commensurate with the quality of the retail offer at the stadium since the completion of the redevelopment in 2011. They have a flexible approach and really understand what's needed at our stadium."
Express Cafes was acquired in 2011 by Central Catering Services
