Edwards & Blake launches healthy summer picnic range
Foodservice firm Edwards & Blake has launched a new summer picnic range as part of its drive to provide healthy on-the-go food for clients.
The Summer Picnic Grab & Go range comes in both meat and vegetarian options, and has been launched across the company's business, industry and secondary education outlets. Each package is prepared fresh every day, before being sealed in takeaway ready-to-eat packs.
Recipes include five spice chicken with pak choi and noodles; BBQ chicken with fresh guacamole; Scotch egg with Waldorf salad; rocket, tomato and cucumber, pitta bread and corn wheels; feta and roasted pepper wrap with dressed coleslaw; salmon wrap with potato salad and lemon; and smoked bacon and roasted leek quiche.
Sweet options include a fruit scone with clotted cream and strawberry jam, and "posh" jelly, with pomegranate and raspberry topped with chocolate.
Shirley Edwards, director and co-founder of Edwards & Blake, commented that the new range was a nod to the company's innovation and commitment to giving busy clients healthy food. She said: "People are accustomed to having food on the go in the high street and there's no reason we can't offer that in a contract catering environment. But we also wanted it to be healthy, nutritious and delicious."
Daniel McClelland, food development manager at Edwards & Blake, said: "We're delighted and proud of the selection on offer and we're confident clients will enjoy the range through the summer."
Founded by entrepreneurs Shirley Edwards and Caroline Blake, the 600-staff company now has a turnover of over £15m, and focuses its business mainly in East Anglia, the Midlands, and the South East of England, including in secondary schools.
