Elior poaches senior chef from Sodexho

Contract caterer Elior has enticed Sodexho senior executive development chef Peter Joyner to the company after more than 20 years with its rival.

Joyner moves to Elior as executive chef in the food concept team, completing a refocusing of resources on training and development at the caterer.

Joyner's team will research and develop new concepts for use in the business, and investigate anglicising some developed by Groupe Elior in France.

A company spokesman said the appointment represented "the last piece of the puzzle" on the development side and would help tackle the fast-changing business environment driven by the increasing commerciality of catering contracts.

Elior has also formed a food and craft development team headed by executive chef Chris Stanley and a menu and product development team led by executive chef Donald Marshall.

Joyner is also the UK's training manager for the WorldSkills competition, which is being held in Japan later this year.
