Elior UK wins five-year deal with BAE Systems in Portsmouth
Foodservice company Elior UK has won a new five-year contract with defence firm BAE Systems, at its Portsmouth Naval Base.
Worth £25m, the contract begins in April and will see the company serve around 5,000 people a day, including Royal Navy personnel. Catering areas will include a wardroom, two "mess" rooms (common rooms for personnel), two cafés, two shops, plus takeaway kiosks and mobile units.
Food will be served from 7am to 11pm, including breakfast and dinner, seven days a week.
Stewart McCulloch, head of sales, defence, for Elior UK, said the contract was "fantastic", and had allowed Elior to introduce a Business and Industry-style of retail on the site, while also satisfying the requirements of military areas.
He said: "This win has involved a cross sector approach in order to fully meet the needs of both civilian and military staff at the base. We have many exciting plans for catering and retail at Portsmouth."
Elior UK is the UK arm of European catering and services group Elior. It operates contracts across business and industry, health sites and care homes, schools, sports venues and heritage centres.
