Encore wins £1.5m extension to Glasgow Tall Ship contract

Encore Hospitality Services has won a £1.5m extension to its catering contract at Glasgow's Tall Ship attraction.

The new five-year deal will see Encore, a division of Glasgow frontline service provider Cordia, continue to manage hospitality and catering services at the 350-capacity venue on Glasgow's River Clyde.

David Melvin, managing director of Cordia, said: "The renewal of this contract reflects the high standards which we have adhered to since 2009, reinforcing our position as Scotland's premier catering provider.

"Not only this, but it's been a real boost to the vibrant Riverside area, which is now Glasgow's number one tourist destination."

The Tall Ship, also known as the Glenlee, was recently moved from Glasgow Harbour to its current location beside the Riverside Museum, where Encore also holds the catering contract.

Frank Brown, chairman of the Tall Ship operating company, said: "The five-year extension to Encore's catering support contract for the Tall Ship is testament to how well their performance over the previous four years has matched the Trust Boards' vision for the ship as a unique function venue."

Encore employs 400 hospitality staff, chefs and managers across Glasgow.
