Entries open for Teflon Diamond Standard Awards

The first phase of the 2015 Teflon Diamond Standard Awards is well under way and has been launched in conjunction with The Caterer's new careers guide, Check in to Hospitality, distributed to schools and colleges across the UK.

The awards are open to all students in the UK over 16 and under 19 years old on or before 1 September 2015.

Students need to register their interest by 20 February and submit details of their dish by 2 March. The dish must be traditional with a ‘twist', serve two people, and be prepared, cooked and served in 90 minutes.

The winner will receive sponsorship for a three-year Specialised Chefs Scholarship arranged by the Academy of Culinary Arts and DuPont and managed by Bournemouth & Poole College.

The scholarship is divided into two categories: work-based training with a chef member of the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts, which forms a major part of the curriculum and full-time block release tuition at the college.

Towards the end of the course the winner will sit an examination and successful candidates awarded the Royal Academy's Diploma in Professional Cookery.

Regional results will be announced at the end of March with the national finals taking place on 29 April 2015.
