Entries sought for Nestlé Toque d'Or 2011
Entries for the Nestlé Toque d'Or 2011 competition are being sought from UK catering colleges, with the chance to cook at the Birmingham NEC for finalists.
In addition to the kudos of success, last years winners walked away with an all expenses paid trip to the international Bocuse d'Or competition held in Lyon.
Neil Stephens, managing director, Nestlé Professional, said: "To succeed in this industry takes a serious amount of passion, effort and skill. It's no longer good enough to sit on the sidelines. Nestlé Toque d'Or is just one of the ways that catering and hospitality students can start to build their industry profile, but it's not an easy ride."
In the first stage, teams are required to submit a paper detailing their ideas for a restaurant concept and a healthy three-course lunch menu. Judges will assess how well the menus address key industry issues such as: nutrition, seasonality, provenance and sustainability.
This restaurant concept will operate as a working business at both the heat stage in February and at the finals in June, where the top five teams will serve 100 diners at BBC Good Food Show Summer at the Birmingham NEC.
Further information is available at on the Nestlé Toque d'Or 2011 helpline on 01327 810477 or email nestletoquedor@opuscreates.com and the closing date for entries is 10 January 2011.
