Friday Wrap: the top five stories of the week on thecaterer.com

Heartfelt tributes continue to pour in, following our announcement of the death of hospitality icon, Roy Ackerman. Roy was a mentor, an inspirational leader, business associate and great friend to many people across the industry - and the grey skies over Caterer Towers feel that bit drabber this week. Next week's magazine will feature a tribute to Roy

Also, high on the news agenda was our big interview with Great British Menu's Paul Askew who was on our screens this week. Keeping it cheffy, former Ramsay Scholar and Acorn winner Tristan Welch is to return to the UK taking the helm behind the stoves at Parker's Tavern at University Arms, Cambridge. And Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's Plymouth River Cottage site closed suddenly having ‘struggled', we wish Hugh and the team well. Finally, following her appointment as Firmdale's operations director Anna Jackson has announced a batch of key new internal appointments and promotions.

Speaking of the Acorns, it's this weekend! Be sure to follow the action on Twitter and Instagram on Sunday afternoon as we put this year's top 30 through their paces at Cliveden House.

Have a great weekend and be sure to raise a glass to Roy!
