Gate Gourmet signs new BA contract

The long-running industrial dispute at in-flight caterer Gate Gourmet entered its final stages last week when a new contract was signed with British Airways.

The new deal now requires ratification by Gate Gourmet's directors before union officials begin the process of getting 713 workers to sign compromise agreements.

A spokeswoman for the T&G union said the agreements were essentially a clean slate for all, which guaranteed no legal action would be taken against Gate Gourmet.

"It's been frustrating for everyone, but we're confident that we will be able to get this next stage completed and our members back into work or [receiving] redundancy payments," said the spokeswoman.
