Goat meat found in lamb dishes, tests reveal

Goat meat has been discovered as the latest example of cheap substitutes being used in place of more expensive products, in the wake of the horse meat scandal.
The meat was found in a selection of unnamed lamb dishes from caterers, school meals and supermarkets, according to a report in The Sunday Times.
The discovery was made in the testing of 1,400 samples from around 40 local authorities in England and Wales by the Public Analyst Scientific Services, a Government-certified food testing laboratory.
While up to 5% of lamb samples contained goat, a similar proportion of chicken dishes has been substituted by turkey.
