Graham Tinsley, a founder member and manager of the Welsh National Culinary team, has received his MBE from the Queen.

The Welsh chef spoke about his "fantastic day" after receiving the accord in the Queen's Birthday Honours for his services to the Welsh food industry.

Graham Tinsley, co-owner of The Castle Hotel, Conwy and Nant Hall, Prestatyn, said: "It was humbling to meet the Queen. When I told her I had cooked for her three times, she gave me a lovely smile."

Mr Tinsley, is the current manager of the Welsh National Culinary Team, which is ranked seventh in the world.

He recently led the team to silver and bronze medals at the Culinary World Cup in Luxembourg, where they placed 12th.

"I would like to think that the award is also recognition of the team's achievements over the years," he added.
