The future of food related technology is to be explored in a series of events across the capital next week.

London Food Tech Week is to explore how consumers' relationships with food are changing with a focus on the sustainable products that might form part of the dishes of the future.

Taking place between 30 October and 4 November the event features food technology start ups, businesses and investors in a varied programme in locations across the capital.

Speakers include Daniel Vennard, program director at the World Resources Institute, who will address how plant based foods both open up new revenue streams and help the planet; Jamie Oliver Group chief digital officer Darren Goldsby, who will speculate on how followers might interact in the future; and Professor Charles Spence, who will explain his work in enhanced multi-sensory food and drink experiences.

Meanwhile, Borough Market will play host to a Food Tech Village, where the public will have the chance to experience the latest food and drink innovations including farmed algae omega-3, wonky veg hummus and organic face masks made of unwanted hemp husks.

Nadia El Hadery, founder and chief executive of YFood, which organises London Food Tech Week, said: "This is a week-long festival celebrating and connecting the incredible people and innovations that are helping us make huge strides in Food Tech, revolutionising the way we buy and consume food.

"This year, we wanted to normalise the concept of Food Tech for Londoners and visitors to give them a unique insight into this amazing, dynamic industry, which is where the idea of the Food Tech Village came from.

"The UK's first Food Tech Village is a unique opportunity for people to see first hand some of the world's most cutting-edge food and Food Tech innovations, that will ultimately help us as humans enjoy a much more sustainable future."
