Hospitality Action raises more than £100,000 for charity
Industry charity Hospitality Action (HA) raised more than £100,000 for charity at its "pure white" themed ball on Friday night at London's Grosvenor House hotel.
In addition to the fundraising, four awards were given to people in the industry for their dedication and commitment to HA.
The Ambassador award, sponsored by First Choice Coffee, went to Caterer group editor Mark Lewis for his "outstanding personal commitment to HA".
"He has not only raised the profile and positioning of the charity through his role as trustee, but also by fundraising at events, supporting HA's award-winning ad campaign, sponsoring re:action and creating the successful Be Aware campaign," commented chief executive Penny Moore.
The President's award, sponsored by William Murray, was given to Premier Inn for an unprecedented second year running. Having last year pledged to significantly support the charity financially, it has fulfilled its promise by raising £500,000.
The HA's Heroes award went to Graham Kingaby of Nivo for "tirelessly raising funds for the charity while committing his time and energy as an invaluable member of the London Regional Board".
The Ark Foundation award for Corporate Social Responsibility went to Red Carnation Hotels for showing a proactive approach to the dangers of alcohol and substance abuse in today's society. Red Carnation not only worked with the Ark for Business on staff training and seminars but also agreed to share their experience with the rest of the industry.
