Hospitality bonanza at Wimbledon

Ladies who lunch… While Tim Henman is bidding for British glory at this year's Wimbledon tennis championships, outside the courts visitors will be doing their fair share of eating and drinking.

The competition, which remains one of the corporate hospitality market's "jewels in the crown" (see news analysis, page 14), will see 28 tonnes of strawberries served in 7,000 litres of cream, while punters imbibe 17,000 bottles of Champagne.

Compass-owned caterer FMC also expects to serve 150,000 glasses of Pimm's, 100,000 pints of draught beer, 300,000 cups of tea and 250,000 bottles of water, as well as 130,000 lunches and 40,000 chargrilled meals.
