Hospitality figures in Birthday Honour list
Our hearty congratulations go to the industry figures recognised in this year's Queen's Birthday Honours list.
Those awarded a CBE include Tom Wright, chief executive of VisitBritain, and Tomas McGrath, chairman of Northern Ireland tourist board, for services to the tourist industry
OBEs were awarded to Stephen Carter, director of De Vere Hotels, Fife and Sara Jayne Stanes, director of the Academy of Culinary Arts, for services to the hospitality industry.
Sanjay Anand, founder of Asian restaurant group and outside caterer Madhu's, was awarded a MBE for services to the hospitality industry.
Anand said: "It is a great honour since it is a huge accolade for the hospitality industry. It is truly rewarding to see the fruits of our labour recognised in such an honorary way."
Julia Caroline Hands, chief executive of Hand Picked Hotels, was also awarded an MBE for services to the hospitality industry as was Professor Peter Albert Jones.
For services to education, Agnes Thompson, school catering unit manager at the Thomas Hepburn Community School in Gateshead, Newcastle-upon-Tyne also received an MBE.
