Hospitality Guild unveils Apprenticeship Awards winners and Young Hall of Fame

The Hospitality Guild has recognised 27 rising stars by welcoming them into its Young Hall of Fame, as well as handing out six apprenticeship awards.

All the names were announced today at a packed event at the Tower of London, with awards presented by a host of industry heavyweights, including: chef Michel Roux Jr; Royal Academy of Culinary Arts chief executive Sara Jayne Stanes; Babylon at the Roof Gardens restaurant manager Peter Avis; executive chef and chief executive of the Cinnamon Club Vivek Singh; and former general manager of Le Gavroche, Silvano Giraldin.

Speaking ahead of presenting the awards, Michel Roux Jr said: "Apprenticeships are very close to my heart and to the Roux family. We strongly believe in apprenticeships and we strongly believe in passing on our knowledge to the young chefs and front of house coming into our industry.

"Parents have a responsibility to not discourage their children from coming into the industry, and I think that is where we come in too, to encourage youngsters into our industry."
