Hoteliers dominate hospitality Rich List
Hoteliers make up the bulk of the UK's richest hospitality business operators and investors within the Sunday Times Rich List, which measures the fortunes of the country's 1,000 wealthiest people.
Joe Lewis, a Bahamas-based financier who holds a £318m stake in Mitchells & Butlers, is the richest of those closely associated with UK hospitality, with a fortune of £2.8b (22nd overall).
He is followed by Richard Caring whose fashion and restaurant empire includes Caprice Holdings, which runs restaurants including the Ivy, J Sheekey and Le Caprice. His wealth has risen by £100m this year to £700m (101st= overall).
Meanwhile, Duncan Bannatyne, star of TV show Dragons' Den and owner of a string of fitness clubs as well as hotels including Charlton House, heads the list of hoteliers with a fortune of £430m (186th= overall).

Brownsword has interests in Abode Hotels and the Bath Priory hotel in addition to his greeting cards business.

Owners of Firmdale Hotels which has six properties in London.
454= Tim Martin: £154m (+£2m)
Founder of pub chain JD Wetherspoon.
537= Adam and Samuel Kaye: £130m
Founders of the Ask restaurant chain which the brothers sold for £54m in 2005. They now run pizza chain Prezzo.
639= Norman Springford: £114m
Springford and his family own Apex Hotels, Scotland's fastest-growing hotel company.
679 Jamie Oliver: £106m (+£41m)
Founder of Fifteen restaurants and Jamie's Italian in which he owns a 70% stake. He also has a successful media career and advertising deal with supermarket chain
Sainsbury's.
703= Guy and Julia Hands: £100m
Guy Hands, founder of private equity firm Terra Firma, has a £136m stake in Hand Picked Hotels.
751= Sinclair Beecham: £95m
Co-founder of Pret a Manger, he is expected to make at least £20m profit from the sale of his Hoxton hotel in east London which is for sale for £67.5m. Beecham made £50m when Pret was sold for £345m in 2008.
776= Lord Rana: £93m
Owner of property and hotel development company Andras House Group.
817= Sir Terence Conran: £85m
Owner of D&D London which operates over 30 restaurants in London as well as restaurants in Paris, New York, Copenhagen and Tokyo.

Property owner who sold his Marston Hotels for £50m.

Holds a 50% stake in Itsu sushi chain and made £50m when Pret A Manger was sold.
