Hoffmann in charge
The Savoy Group has appointed Michael Hoffmann new general manager of its Claridge's hotel in London. Hoffman, who has previously worked with the Peninsula Group and Ritz-Carlton, replaces Christopher Cowdray, who left Claridge's in May to join nearby rival the Dorchester.

Boost for organic A survey by the Soil Association has revealed that 44% of diners would like to see organic food on menus. According to the food and farming charity, the public's appetite for healthy eating is based primarily on a distrust of chemical sprays and concerns about the environment. Meanwhile, 74% cited worries about GM food as their grounds for healthier alternatives.

Mahony on move Noel Mahony, managing director of Baxter & Platts, part of contract catering giant Compass Group, is leaving the company, Caterer has learned. Mahony, who has been managing director since 2002, leaves at the end of November to take a position elsewhere in the industry. He will join Wilson Storey Halliday, the independent caterer confirmed.
