Kudos' ‘Haute Dog Van' arrives in Harrogate
Gourmet hot dogs are coming to Harrogate as the first "Haute Dog Van" from Kudos, part of the Crown Group, is set to arrive in the Yorkshire town.
Hoping to build on the success of other hot dog firms such as Bubble Dogs, Kudos' menu will offer quality ingredients and a new approach to hot dog flavours, all served from a 1940s Citroen H Van, which is fitted with gas and electric griddles, refrigerators, wash basins, and a bean-to-cup coffee machine.
Always starting from a base of British, free-range pork sausages and a toasted bun, menu choices will include the "New York", with fresh apple, parsley and cardamom; the "Haute Hottie", with onions, paprika, Monterey Jack cheese and beef chilli; and the "Dirty Dawg", with American-style mustard, gherkin and red chilli.
Jon Pryce, managing director of Kudos, said: "Several members of our staff regularly attend global food festivals to spot emerging trends. We have been trialling the concept for a number of months to ensure we have the right balance of bread, meat and sauces. The choice of the Citroen H Van was key to completing the concept and we are now ready to hit the streets."
Hot dogs and street food are currently big business, with Bubble Dogs, Big Apple Hot Dogs and Herman Ze German just some of the names to have gained popularity in Britain in recent years, alongside an explosion of interest in markets and food vans.
A food and venue management firm with a turnover of over £22m, Kudos is part of caterer the Crown Group, and provides catering services for diverse sites including sports stadia, conference halls, exhibition centres and theatres, as well as restaurants, bars and cafés nationwide.
