Lee Maycock named chef-director at Blue Apple Catering
Lee Maycock, the founder of LBM Food Solutions and Foodies on Tour, and chairman of the Craft Guild of Chefs, has joined Blue Apple Catering as its chef-director.
Maycock has been tasked with leading and developing the foodservice operator's food culture, raising the company's profile in the sector, and ensuring that Blue Apple is recognised as being one of the leading businesses in the market. Other responsibilities include leading the chef workforce within the organising.
The founders of Blue Apple, chief executive officer Brian Allanson and sales director Ruston Toms, said Maycock's knowledge and experience as chairman of the Craft Guild of Chefs will enhance Blue Apple's own chef development programme.
Maycock is expected to mentor and guide Blue Apple's chefs' forum, in partnership with development chef David Belsey, to ensure that the company's food offering reflects consumer trends - especially those customers that want to eat in a healthy and sustainable way.
Maycock, whose career has included positions at Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons in Great Milton, Oxfordshire, as well as Lucas Film and Television in California, told The Caterer: "After a very successful 12 years with LBM Food Solutions, I have decided to park the company, but not close it. I will now concentrate on the growth of Blue Apple and keeping LBM allows me the option to come back to the business sometime in the future."
Allanson added: "Lee's appointment is another milestone for Blue Apple and further strengthens the senior management team. We've known Lee for almost 20 years and are very excited to be finally working together. Ruston and I are very confident that Lee's profile within the hospitality industry, together with Blue Apple's growth strategy, means the next few years will be very successful".
Blue Apple was founded in 1998 by Allanson and Toms, employs 370 people and has 75 contracts including EasyJet, TATA Technologies , AXA and DAC Beachcroft.
In June, Blue Apple announced that it had won £5.4m of new business during the first quarter of the year with contracts including Whitbread's group headquarters in Dunstable, Bedfordshire.
