Leeds Metropolitan University wins accolade for event management
Leeds Metropolitan University has been announced as the first Centre of Excellence for Event Management in Yorkshire and the Humber.
The university's UK centre for Events Management was awarded the approved status by the National Skills Academy for Sport and Active Leisure
Geoff Hitchins, chief executive at the university, said: "The UK Centre for Events Management at Leeds Metropolitan has developed an excellent range of provision to meet the needs of employers and industry bodies.
"We are proud of our role within the Yorkshire and Humber Region in supporting employers as they prepare for London 2012 and other major events and look forward to working with the National Skills Academy for Sport and Active Leisure to deliver on the region's skills agenda."
A range of accredited events courses can now be accessed via the Skills Academy on a full time or part time basis - from one-year degrees to postgraduate certificate, diploma and masters programmes.
These include a BSc in Sports Events Management and a postgraduate Certificate, Diploma or MSc in Sports Events Management.
