Lord's sees 8% increase in events turnover for 2015
Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), owner of Lord's Cricket Ground, has recorded an 8% increase in turnover for its events business in 2015 compared to last year.
The venue said it had seen a particular increase in evening events, such as dinners and receptions, as a result of the 2015 Ashes being held in the UK.
Lord's offers 12 spaces for meetings, conferences, receptions, dinners and weddings for up to 1,000 guests.
The ground also showed an 18% increase in event yield during the year, despite prices remaining static. It said this was caused by clients upgrading their drinks and menu packages and introducing venue tours for their guests.
Nick Kenton, head of sales for meetings, events and hospitality at MCC, said: "2015 has been a particularly strong year with us benefitting from the feel-good factor around England winning back the Ashes, but the final numbers have exceeded our expectations and the dedication and hard work from the team in delivering exceptional events has helped us achieve a record-breaking year.
"We anticipate 2016 to be a busy year once again. The events team will continue to focus on evening events within the famous Grade-II pavilion, which have proved so successful, larger conferences in the Thomas Lord Suite and summer parties in our range of outdoor spaces, continuing to deliver the premium product and service we are known for."
Lord's featured in an episode of MasterChef: The Professionals earlier this month when the chefs cooked a three-course menu for ex-England captain Mike Gatting and guests.
