Marco Pierre White calls for entries to the Knorr National Chef Award
Marco Pierre White has issued a call to entries to the Knorr National Chef of the Year 2008 competition, on which he is a judge.
The competition, run by the Craft Guild of Chefs, rewards the crème de la crème of today's chef talent with the winner securing a first prize of £10,000 alongside the coveted title. It is open to all chefs over the age of 21, working within any sector of the UK hospitality industry.
"I want to inspire people to cook and truly great food comes from the heart," said White. "If you share in my passion I would encourage you to enter the competition and let your passion create opportunity."
Now in its 19th year the competition will culminate in a final at next year's Restaurant Show on 7 October 2008.
Past winners include Gordon Ramsay, Steve Love and Mark Sargeant, with Eyck Zimmer of the Lowry hotel in Manchester the current holder.
The deadline for entries has been extended until 15 January. Visit www.unileverfoodsolutions.co.uk complete the application form and submit with a colour passport photo of yourself in chef whites.
