Northern Hospitality award winners unveiled
The North-West region took the lion's share of the 2008 Northern Hospitality Awards at Manchester's five-star Lowry hotel last night.
Six of the nine awards went to operators west of the Pennines including best restaurant (Liverpool's London Carriage Works), best chef (Lisa Allen at Lancashire's Northcote Manor) and the Lowry itself picked up best hotel.
Flying the flag for Yorkshire was the Shoulder of Mutton in Kirkby Overblow, North Yorkshire, which picked up best pub while the Pipe & Glass Inn in East Yorkshire won best newcomer.
Last night was the third Northern Hospitality Awards. Previous winners include Rudding Park hotel in Harrogate and Anthony's restaurant in Leeds.

Special Achievement Award - Reg Johnson, Johnson & Swarbrick
